Hello! I'm currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in both Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering while also getting a Game Design Certificate. I will be graduating in December of 2023.
I've been playing video games since I was five and have always had a passion for them. I took a video game development class in high school which led to my initial desire to major in computer science. Feeling initially overwhelmed, switched majors to something else I knew I liked doing, mechanical engineering. Nearing the end of my college journey, I started to feel dissatisfied with majoring in just mechanical engineering when I knew I also loved making games. Returning to computer science and completing my degree was the answer. I tacked on a game design certificate to align more closely with my true career interests.
In college, I gained many skills, in both mechanical engineering and computer science. I know Java, JS, C, C++, C#, HTML, XML, Python, MATLAB, R, CNC, git and SQL. I am acquainted with Eclipse, Microsoft Visual Studio, SOLIDWORKS, Rhino, CAD, Photoshop, After Effects, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, LabView, MATLAB, EES, Github, Unreal Engine 5, Blender and Unity. I've also had the opportunity to work on and lead different teams throughout college and in my Software Development Club to enhance my leadership, teamwork, project management, and communication skills.
I am seeking a full time position as a software engineer or game developer as part of a team in a collaborative environment. Currently I am working as a Software Developer Intern at MGIC where I learned professional behavior, the requirements needed to succeed in the industry and improved my coding skills through my mentors teaching. For the previous two summers, I have worked as a Bartender at the Third Space Taproom in Milwaukee. As a natural introvert, that experience has helped me become a more engaging communicator and has given me the ability to manage different dynamics, personalities, and situations that arise in a bar environment. The previous four summers, I directed the summer tennis program at a local park, teaching children and adults. I had to create games for both groups to play and learn from during their lessons.
